From what we can gather and also speculate, Clawdia lived in an unsocialized environment. She and her sister (already adopted) were not the friendly type so were left isolated and on their own and thus, she did not get consistent interaction nor proper socialization. Thereby, it explains why Clawdia is untrusting and sends out warning signs of hissing and spitting when she encounters new people. Clawdia is fearful because she’s never had the benefit of gentle, continual love. She lived in her own world of fear and trepidation. Soon after her arrival at the shelter, she gave birth to a litter of kittens. She spent her time focused on them and staff left her alone to raise them until they were weaned. So, her socialization was again stunted just because of her unfortunate circumstances. Clawdia has since been spayed and is now available for adoption. She is still extremely shy and untrusting. She tucks herself away in a hooded bed where she feels as safe as possible. It takes a long introduction to meet Clawdia. It requires a slow, calm, and gentle approach. A soft touch goes a long way to connecting with her inner soul. Her intense stare and grumpy scowl tell you to go away but she really does appreciate human love. Once you pet her, she will eventually start to purr. And the more time you spend with her, the more she relaxes, even to the point of offering her belly for some soft touches and rubs. Clawdia is a dear kitty with a sweet soul. She has been given a second chance and now an opportunity to find a home where someone will give her oodles of time to acclimate but also take the time necessary to help Clawdia free herself of fear to become a relaxed and properly domesticated kitty. This beautiful girl deserves that.
