Forrest Can Finally Breathe Again!

When Forrest arrived at Second Chance from a shelter in southwest Wyoming, he was absolutely miserable.

He was suffering from a severe upper respiratory infection, and his poor nose was so caked with dried mucus that he couldn't breathe through it or even smell his food. For three days, Forrest refused to eat, and we had to administer subcutaneous fluids to keep him hydrated and provide essential electrolytes.

To make matters worse, the antibiotic he had been receiving wasn't helping. We switched him to a different medication, crossed our fingers, and hoped our sweet boy would finally start feeling better.

Within 24 hours, Forrest was a different cat!

He could breathe easier, his appetite returned, and suddenly we discovered that underneath all that mucus and misery was an absolutely enormous lovebug.

We've been brushing out his matted fur, giving him all the chin scratches he can handle, and getting rewarded with an endless supply of head bonks and purrs.

Forrest still needs time and care to fully recover, but seeing him finally comfortable, eating, and enjoying affection has been such a relief.
